xymon e-mail alerts show up as attachments instead of e-mail

Not a wild thought. Yes you are correct. I was getting ready to post my findings. We recently moved our xymon server from fedora core 3 to SLES 11. Fedora used mail and SLES 11 mail is linked to mailx. The windows clients are sending carriage returns in the status ^M (carriage return). The problem occured on SuSe server but not on redhat server, because mailx expects input text to be in Unix format, with lines separated by *newline*(^J, \n) characters only. Non-Unix text files that use *carriage return* (^M, \r) characters in addition will be treated as binary data. Hence the reason we get notifications that show up as attachments. ISO documentation on flapping status?

We've got a bunch of servers showing as "flapping". I understand that this is a new feature but haven't found the docs on how to tweak it. Where and how can this be changed? thanks Betsy

how to see graphs for last week/month for perticular test ?snapshot report

hi, i have 2 problems.. 1)i want to see last month cpu utilization graph for the perticular host,how can i see that? 2)when i want to see snapshot report for say date 2dec09 7:30am,front pages(bb-html etc) shows time stamp of 2dec09 7:0am,but when i click to see status of perticular test of perticular host,it shows me status of 29oct09 12:40pm.how to overcome it? -- Pankaj V. Xymond and xymonnet quirks

After getting the latest Xymon 4.3.4 finally working on CentOS 6 64-bit, I'm seeing a few quirks that I'd appreciate some input on. First, under Xymonnet tests, it's alerting Yellow because the time spent is too long (over 300). The culprit is DNS tests executed taking over 340 itself.. Can anyone shed some light on this? I know I saw some other threads about putting in a --no-ares but I wanted to see if there was something else I might be missing before I change the functionality of the tests.. Next, under Xymond, I'm getting a ton of multiple statuses reports for CONN tests. I can't seem to find a clear archive of what would cause that other than having both IP's listed when you have 2 display servers.. Both servers reference each other as a client and in xymonserver.cfg.. Hi, I install xymon collector server and agent in the same machine. Apache server is running in the same server. Now I start collector server and agent both. After that I am trying to open web page with: http://19x.xxx.xxx.xxx/xymon/index.html I am getting following error: *Forbidden* You don't have permission to access /xymon/index.html on this server. ------------------------------ *Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at 19x.xxx.xxx.xxx Port 80* Kindly let me know how can I resolved this problem? Stop all alerts for maintainance

But solving it is not quite as easy as one would expect. The problem is that when the PROC triggers a red status, Xymon knows that the rule was one that included a "GROUP=heather" setting. But when the recovery happens, it is because none of the rules in analysis.cfg triggered. So Xymon does not know that the green status is a recovery from a rule that contained the GROUP setting. There is some state lost here. To solve this, the xymond_alert module will have to keep track of the active alerts, and which GROUP settings triggered them. When the recovery happens, it will then use that list of groups that received the alert as the basis for sending out the recovered-notices. It can be solved, of course. Just don't be disappointed when you see 4.3.4 being released later today without a fix for this problem. Regards, Henrik

Multiplicated Background-gif after update to 4.3.5

After upgrading from 4.3.0b2 to 4.3.5 the background-gif on the service pages gets multiplicated across the page (see attached screenshot). The overview pages are ok. Any hints?
