Hello I'd like to know if the Acknowledge History feature is on the road map of Xymon Dev. This is a feature which will be very very useful and i'm also impatient to see it implemented. Trouble installing 4.3.4

I'm setting up a pair of new Xymon servers for testing. I want to do a clean install of Xymon 4.3.4. The servers are RHEL 6 (and I'm a Solaris admin so ...). I've downloaded the tar.gz file from Sourceforge and tried to do the configure, but I'm having some trouble with dependencies. I installed rrdtool-1.4.4 with yum, but cairo-png and pixman-0.10.0 are needed and I'm dealing with those. Before I go beating my head to a pulp, I'm wondering if there's an easier way. I have looked for an RPM, but have found nothing. I've searched the mail archives and have found nothing saying "for an RPM for Xymon 4.3.4 for RHEL 6 look here...". Or anything even close to that. Any pointers? Or failing that, what do I need to do to get all the dependencies installed. pkg-config is giving me a headache. It is being very finicky about where libraries are located. Thanks! Unable to view xymon web pages

I am trying to setup xymon on Ubuntu and for days now have not been able to get it working. I have followed the installation steps to a "T" and have created a user called "xymonuser" for xymon. I copied the xymon-apache.conf file to my /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and when I start the xymon.sh service as xymonuser I only see the "index/xymon" directory when I go to http://localhost/xymom/ Here are some of my one of my log files: tail /var/log/xymon/xymonlaunch.log Cannot access checkpoint file /home/xymonuser/srver/tmp/xymond.chk for restore Setting up network listener on 0.0.0.0:1984 Cannot bind to listen socket (Address already in use) Task xymond terminated, status 1 There are errors at in my apache logs and when I start the xymon service it starts successfully. I have to say I am a newbie when it comes to linux and am still learning how to use vi. Jewel --

Get status from command line?

Hi. Is it possible to get the current status for specified/all hosts from command line? I want to create a client-side script on the server that checks for purple statuses. We don't want to configure alerts for purple, since there are often multiple tests or hosts that go purple at the same time, and we don't want to be flooded with alerts. We are currently doing this by checking the nongreen.html file, but that's not a pretty solution. Best Regards, Johan Sjöberg

Issue with declaring Load in defaults

Hi Xymon Team,   Thanks for efforts you all are making resolve the queries.   I have one issue in my Xymon setup.   I have configured Xymon to have configuration centralize on Xymon server.   In defualts I have declared the Load value as   Load 5.0 10.0   which is applicable for all. Now there is one AIX server on which load always high so I want to change the load value for that particular server. Below is my analysis.cfg   HOST=hsdaixdb        LOAD 6.0 10.0        PORT "LOCAL=%([.:]22)$" state=ESTABLISHED min=5 max=20 color=green TRACK=ssh "TEXT=SSH logins"        PROC "%db" 1 color=red TRACK "TEXT=DB2 database services" As i have Load declared in default this value is not getting affected. Do we have any reason for this or I am doing a mistake here.   Thanks Gautam

Xymon donations

Hello all. I am a fan of Xymon since it first spun of the bb, when quest bought that, and became Hobbit. I have been using hobbit/xymon since, both privately and at my work to monitor my systems... Now its time for me to try to give back to this project the way I can (i suck at programming) so I talked to my department manager and convinced him to allow me to donate yearly to this project as Xymon is a very important part of our system. I will be donating 500 us$ for this year and 1.000 us$ for following years while we use Xymon as our monitoring software here at where I work at the moment. This is not much, I know, but this is at least a starting point. I will be donating to all other open source projects that we are using in our commercial environment, although amounts vary alot based on how much we use each product. My wish is that other companies that use this great software can show their support in a similar way and that is why I am writing this post. BUG: LOG ignores not working in 4.3.4

Hi. Yesterday I updated our Xymon server from 4.3.3 to 4.3.4. Now I have noticed that the LOG test ignores that we have added in analysis.cfg no longer work. No lines seem to be ignored anymore. /Johan

Trends page bug

Hi. I noticed a bug in the Trends page in 4.3.4 (possibly earlier as well). If I press any of the buttons to change the time period for which to show graphs (or manually enter a custom period), the short name of the host is used (as specified with NAME: in hosts.cfg), giving me a "No such host" error. I can see in the address bar that the hostname is changed from FQDN to the short name, and it works if I manually enter the full name. /Johan

PCI Compliance

Has anyone done any work on PCI DSS compliance (for companies that take & store credit card details)? If so, have you found an internal PCI Compliance Checker that can be integrated into Xymon, providing red/green status? Alternatively, does anyone have any WMI scripts that pass their output to Xymon that I could hack around?
