Disable standard client test?

Is it possible to disable one of the standard xymon-client tests? I would like to stop the ports test from running on a number of clients, since the message gets oversized, and I don't monitor anything in the ports test anyway. Regards, Johan Sjöberg

Xymon client version missing

Hi, Xymon 4.3.10 running on Solaris. Is there somewhere on the xymon webpage that shows which xymon version the client has? I can't find that anywhere! My guess would be on the info page, but nothing. In the hostdata the info is not there? Different displays for "disabled" tests

All - I have a situation where I have two Xymon servers (both 4.3.3 / Solaris 10) working off the same NFS-shared data. The only differences between the configs that I know about are the lines in xymonserver.cfg detailing the host names, and IP addresses. However, for any given host with disabled tests, one server displays columns for that host which have been disabled as blue, but the other server completely omits the columns for that host which are disabled! In case I'm not being clear, if I have server "XYMON_1" showing columns "xymond" and "iostat2" for host "racecar" as disabled, my other server ("XYMON_2") will simply show all columns except "xymond" and "iostat2" for host "racecar". The column headers won't appear for that host at all. What causes this "dual" behavior? colomn info order

Hello Sometimes, it is a pain to search the "info" colomn specially when you have many many other columns. This info columns is particular, it is vital information inside like Adresses IP, alerting rules, etc. So, i was wondering if it is possible to change the order and to set it AT FIRST position in the hobbit page overview (?). Old server came back to life and spit out the same set of messages. You probably didn't restart the xymon client (on a server it is run by the server) after you changed the name of the server. Dear Xymon community I'm a newbie to Xymon, to monitoring, and in general to Linux. Until now I was able to avoid asking questions, but now I'm stuck. 1. I installed a debian linux, Hostname: debian 2. I installed apache 3. I installed Xymon 4. I changed the hostname to "Xymon" - Now I have a ghost client called "debian", sending data from 192.168.1.105 (the actual IP address of the server) - And I have a "Xymon" called host. and I have a conn test from 127.0.0.1, a bbd and a http test, all showing green. But no cpu/disk/memory tests. Frankly I'm lost. As I'm a rookie I can't find the file to edit in the vast webs of the sybolic links in the linux filesystem :) CLIENTHOSTNAME="Xymon" but wich file to edit? -- Tengermély Tisztelettel: Pacsó Tamás

Netbackup client status script?

We are finally migrating out of Tivoli to Symantec's Netbackup. We currently have a backup tab for each client which would report some stats - number of files, number of bytes, and status. Looking at doing something similar, however, it seems that most of the status commands are only available to be run on the netbackup master or media servers. I've found the following nagios script: http://exchange.nagios.org/components/com_mtree/attachment.php?link_id=2566… But in order not to reinvent the wheel, does anyone have something similar? Further, our master and media servers are running windows, which makes scripting a little more challenging. If not, if I install the media server bits on a linux box (without registering it on the netbackup domain) would this be enough to query the DB and produce reports? If so, perl or bash would do it. Tests for the xymon-server

Hi, I am a bit confused on how to add extra tests to the xymon-server itself. In server/etc/tasks,cfg I run the [xymonclient] If I would like to add some other tests like ZFS and prtdiag I would have though I add them as in any client in client/etc/clientlaunch.cfg But to get these tests work I have to add them in server/etc/tasks,cfg What am I missing? - Roland
