keep receiving alerts from Xymon

Hi, I keep receiving email alerts from Xymon for a conn failure happened during the week-end. I don't know how to stop it(The conn is green for a while now but i keep receive this messages). Regards, Traian.

mismatch value between apache and xymon http/s response time

|Hi all, i have noted a mismatch between values from my apache (version 2.2) logs (http, https) (%D| The time taken to serve the request, in microseconds), and http response times in xymon. For example https test: 1614 (from ssl request log) Seconds: 0.34 (from xymon) http test: 606 (from access log - http) Seconds: 0.06 (from xymon) thanks for any suggestions Marco

Setting Test status based on emails

Does anyone have a working example of a script which pulls emails from a specified account and uses that data to set the status of a given test? I have seen people talk about doing that and am looking for a little guidance in setting that up. How to reset or get Xymon web pages to show CPU, DISK, Mem etc

Make sure the client is running on our Xymon server. The client provides all those basics. Make sure the client is configured to be launched in tasks.cfg file. If the client is running but you don't see any updates, then check under the "reports" menu option and see if it is reporting as a "ghost client". If it is on the "Ghost client" report than you need to make sure the name listed in the report matches the name of your server in your hosts.cfg file. Critical systems page

Is it possible to enter a URL into the Instructions field in the critical systems editor and have it appear on the web page as a clickable link. I'm running Xymon 4.3.4. I've tried entering <A HREF="http://the url I want to serve">Click here for Expert Advice</A> but I just get the url showing in Instructions I'd prefer to use this rather than using the 'Host docs' link as this will enable me to build the advice pages individually for Host/Test combinations. post test with httpstatus

I've got a post test running which tests a login page, if the page is successful, the user gets a 302 status code in the header and no content (the user gets redirected) If the page is not successful the user is returned to the login page without the 302 status code. I've tried setting up a number of tests: 1. post=login;https://loginpage.my.domain/login.php;action=login&ID=username&Password=password 2. nopost=login;https://loginpage.my.domain/login.php;action=login&ID=username&Password=password;login The text 'login' is present on the login page (which the user gets sent back to if the login is unsuccessful). If the page and login works fine then the following happens in xymon: Test 1: Green Test 2: Red (xymon output is https:/loginpage.my.domain/login.php - Testing URL yields: No output received from server) If the page and login is failing then the following happens in xymon: Test 1: Green Test 2: Red (xymon output is https:/loginpage.my.domain/login.php - Testing URL yields: {login page displayed}) So the failure test works, but since no html is sent when the login is successful (just a 302 redirect), the success page fails as well! I'm not sure how I can get this login page monitored. I've looked at the httpstatus check, but this doesn't appear to be able to be used by posting data to a form. Anybody have any ideas? monitoring aggregated network traffic

Hi, thanks for your very helpful answer. It took me a few days to get back to that issue, so sorry for that late responose. I've added additional lines for outgoing, and it works as expected. I'm absolutely fine with hardcoed interfaces, cause I need the aggregated view of particular interfaces. The it computes another variable, "in at RRDIDX@" as 8*inbytes - to convert from bytes to bits. The notation here is Reverse Polish (RPN). So if you have 4 RRD files, one for each interface, you can have RRDtool do the math for you like this: [ifsum] TITLE Network Traffic YAXIS Bits/second DEF:inbytes0=ifstat.eth0.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes1=ifstat.eth1.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes2=ifstat.eth2.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes3=ifstat.eth3.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE CDEF:intotal=inbytes0,inbytes1,inbytes2,inbytes3,+,+,+ CDEF:inbits=intotal,8,* LINE:inbits#FF0000:Aggregate inbound The "LINE" definition then uses the "inbits" value to draw a (red) line with this data. Have a look at graphs.cfg, and I'm sure you can figure out to add a line for the outgoing data also. Add "ifsum" to the GRAPHS setting in xymonserver.cfg, and the graph should show up on the "trends" page. xymonlaunch stuck purple

Hello, I just installed my first stand alone client reporting to my xymon server. During setup, I did something that caused xymonlaunch to crash. The xymonlauch red alert said, "- Program crashed Fatal Signal Caught!" I think it had something to do with permissions as I FTP'd the clientlauch.cfg over as root and the file was secured as root:root:. I believe the error was a signal 6??? maybe 5? ... Anyway, I fixed the permissions, and bounced the client, and things came up and are working. However, my "xymonlaunch" alert is now stuck in a "purple" state. The logs all look good, and I can tell that other xymon alerts for this client are reporting correctly. I also notice that my other system, the server/client system, shows a "-" for the xymonlaunch. This leads me to believe that this "xymonlaunch" alert is not configured to report unless there is a problem.
