I'm having a problem getting acknowledged alerts on the critical view from Xymon. We're migrating from Solaris 10 and RHEL 5.7 to a single RHEL 6.2 server. All servers are running Xymon version 4.3.7 compiled and installed from source. I'm running into a problem with xymondboard. If I run this command on the Solaris server or the RHEL 6.2 server it doesn't return any acklist data, but it works on RHEL 5.7. ./bin/xymon localhost "xymondboard fields=hostname,testname,acklist host=HOSTNAME" RHEL5: localhost|conn|1329871681:1329958081:1:jawood:test\n RHEL6: localhost|conn| We use these results to populate the data for a custom view. I need to figure out what's different between the versions of Redhat. analysis.cfg failed alerting

In client-local.cfg file:`ls -1 /opt/powermonitor-notices/*` On the files column I see green /opt/powermonitor-notices/noticeofpowerfailure.192.168.97.10 Now in the hobbit-clients.cfg (AKA analysis.cfg now) configuration neither of these work FILE /opt/powermonitor-notices/noticeofpowerfailure.192.168.97.10 red noexist FILE noticeofpowerfailure.192.168.97.10 red noexist FILE %noticeofpowerfailure* red noexist Ideally I would like the last one there to work so I don't need to specify the IP and can simply use a regular expression and cover all of them. mrtg xymon integration problem

Hi, I have installed Xymon server on a CentOS 6 x64. I wanted to integrate MRTG into it and i got an error. After i add the below lines: # For Xymon integration WorkDir: /var/lib/xymon/rrd LogFormat: rrdtool I get this error: ERROR: could not find RRDs.pm. Use LibAdd: in mrtg.cfg to help mrtg find RRDs.pm The problem is that i don't know where to find RRDs.pm. Regards.

FW: dbcheck issue

Hi All , After configuring the dbcheck for SQL Server ,I am only able to view the connection information .The database space report column is not being displaced .Could you please let me know as to how to troubleshoot this issue ? Multi-graphs with subgraphs do not show properly

Hello, It seems that the combination of multi-graphs with sub-graphs may lead to unexpected results. A local test, with name diskstat, checks some performance measures of disk I/O. (Basically it reads /proc/diskstats on a Linux machine, and dumps the measurements of selected partitions into an RRD, one RRD per partition.) As there is one set of measurements for each partition to monitor, the graphs of diskstat are defined as multi-graphs: In file cgioptions.cfg: CGI_SVC_OPTS=".... -multigraphs=diskstat,diskstat0,diskstat1,diskstat2" As one RRD contains 11 datasets, a number of subgraphs is defined to show all the collected information. As shown above, there are 3 additional graphs to show it all. The various bits of configuration with respect to test diskstat are: xymonserver.cfg: TEST2RRD="....,diskstat" GRAPHS="....,diskstat::1,diskstat0::1,diskstat1::1,diskstat2::1" tasks.cfg: CMD xymond_channel --channel=status .... --extra-tests=diskstat --extra-script=/home/nlr/xymon/server/ext/rrd_status.pl Of course there are graph definitions for diskstat, diskstat0, diskstat1 and diskstat2 in file graphs.cfg. Script rrd_status.pl also adds a line like  to the status message, with N the number of partitions. The layout of the page of test diskstat is correct. It shows the textual output of script rrd_status.pl and the graph diskstat multiple times, once per partition. The trends page is sometimes not as expected. If no TRENDS are defined for the host in file hosts.cfg, and thus no sub-graphs are selected, the trends column will show one diskstat graph per partition, which is what I would expect. However, if the sub-graphs are selected for a host by adding TRENDS:*,diskstat:diskstat|diskstat0|diskstat1|diskstat2 to the entry of that host in hosts.cfg, the multiplicity of one, as defined in variable GRAPHS, does not function any more. For a host with two monitored partitions, the information of both partitions are shown in one graph. Did I miss something in configuring the combination of multi-graphs with sub-graphs or is this an error in Xymon? Btw, we are using Xymon 4.3.7. Hi ! Is there any other chance to prevent the warning from xymond e.g. Latest error messages: Oversize data/client msg from 131.169.71.236 truncated (n=1356805, limit 1280000) First line: bird036|linux|linux| .. apart from permanently to raise the limits MAXMSG_DATA, MAXMSG_STATUS , MAXMSG_CLIENT in xymonserver.cfg ? By any chance only for some special hosts ? thanks & cheers Martin

Case-sensitivity of test (column) name

Hello, we are using Xymon 4.3.7, and have implemented an additional test which measures the number of simultaneous sessions through a Checkpoint firewall. The test is called 'session'. The data in the status message to Xymon is formatted as shown below: Simultaneous sessions  This test is defined in xymonserver.cfg (TEST2RRD= ...,session=ncv, GRAPHS=...,session, NCV_session="*:GAUGE"). The test is shown, with title "session", but the RRD is not updated and it is not possible to get a graph. In stead of a graph, the text "xymongraph Session" is shown. A test named Session is defined in xymonserver.cfg and an associated graph in graphs.cfg. It seems that some parts od Xymon are case-sensitive and do not get confused by these two names. The test is shown on the appropriate Xymon web page, and status changes are reported. However, RRD updating and graphing seem to get confused. The problems are solved by renaming the test from "session" to "fwsession". Still, I like to know if Xymon should have handled the case described above correctly, thus including updating the RRD and showing a graph, as I have found nothing in the documentation with regard to case-(in)sensitivity of test (column) names.
