Hi there, i have implemented a fresh install of Xymon 4.3.7 for our environment. This includes at this time nearly 300 devices in total. We had used a commercial tool before, and we are in the need to go away from that commercial tool to Xymon. Knowing some of the features we had in the commercial tool, i'm missing these features in Xymon. For each device i'ld like to have a column that provides me with a "PuTTY", "TELNET" or "MSTSC" feature. For example, if it is a Linux server, i'ld like to have a "PUTTY" icon. For a windows machine, i want a "MSTSC" icon. "TELNET" i want to have for several CISCO devices. Currently i have created a ssh-protocol-handler in the local registry of the "viewing" machine. Then i have created HOSTNAME.html files in the server/www/notes directory which enables me to provide links, for example HREF="ssh:HOSTNAME". This enables me to login to the specified host. In general this is what i want. But: i think it's more efficient to have an extra column on the overview site which provides me with the specified protocol link. Would that be possible to implement? UNCLASSIFIED// Hi, Im using XYMON to monitor both Linux and Windows machines. I have the service working as desired with the exception of the uptime column. The Windows machines report a "system uptime performance counter query failed" within the uptime page and the Linux boxes does not provide an update page at all. I am aware that uptime is reported in the "cpu" page, however it would be nice to report it in the update page (link Windows) for consistency. Firstly does anyone know how to resolve the "system uptime performance counter query failed" issue on the Windows boxes. Secondly does anyone know how I can get a working update page (equivalent to that in Windows) on my Linux boxes? List of graphs of a devmon test is too long

Hello, we are using xymon 4.3.7 and devmon 0.3.1-beta1, r233. Some of the devmon tests on interfaces of switches and routers use the rrd collector of xymon. Those tests contain thus both a table and additionally one graph per interface. However, for *each* test using the devmon rrd collector there are three additional pointers to non-existing graphs. The number of additional non-existing graphs is thus independent of the number of interfaces being monitored. In subdirectory ~xymon/data/rrd/nlrcve02-lan there are 3 RRDs, not 6. How xymon does determine the linecount, 6 in the example above, is not clear to me. However, it is the number of lines in the HTML comment section containing the RRD data, which is always 3 more than the number of interfaces. How can I configure xymon in such a way that the number of graphs matches the number of interfaces? Patch to correct status unchanged time formatting

[Lifted from SF tracker #3498715] Attached is a trivial patch for the 'Status unchanged in' line displayed on the web page of individual services. The patch was produced against version 4.3.7 Xymon. Currently the 'status unchanged' line shows times like: Status unchanged in 1 days,0 hours, 11 minutes The patch puts a space after the first comma (,). It then only puts an 's' on the time if it is not '1'. So, the above becomes: Status unchanged in 1 day, 0 hours, 11 minutes (The patch is a little messy - using specific variables for the maths would be better.) Reporting bugs?

Hi, Just wondering where is the best place to report possible bugs? The sourceforge site says it is on this mailing list (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xymon/support) The SF tracker shows what seems like a lot of open bugs - 43 out of 46 in total open, 35 open feature requests out of 39 in total, 12 open patches against 13 in total, etc. Is tracker not really used then for Xymon? The built in network ftp test. It will not check ids/passwords, but it does check that ftp is running and is accepting commands. It opens the 21 port on an ftp sever and then issues a quit to disconnect. All you need to do is put the "ftp" tag on the server's entry in the hosts.cfg file and Xymon will do the rest. If ftp is not functional, it will let you know. You do need to install some modules though. CPAN makes life easier. FTP: Net::FTP. An example test is attached. It's pretty much the sample code from http://perldoc.perl.org/Net/FTP.html, with a little editing to hook it into Hobbit. To start something like Putty you would need to define a "helper app" on your computer. Telnet is already defined on Windows, but SSH is not.
