how to see graphs for last week/month for perticular test ?snapshot report

hi, i have 2 problems.. 1)i want to see last month cpu utilization graph for the perticular host,how can i see that? 2)when i want to see snapshot report for say date 2dec09 7:30am,front pages(bb-html etc) shows time stamp of 2dec09 7:0am,but when i click to see status of perticular test of perticular host,it shows me status of 29oct09 12:40pm.how to overcome it? -- Pankaj V. Xymond and xymonnet quirks

After getting the latest Xymon 4.3.4 finally working on CentOS 6 64-bit, I'm seeing a few quirks that I'd appreciate some input on. First, under Xymonnet tests, it's alerting Yellow because the time spent is too long (over 300). The culprit is DNS tests executed taking over 340 itself.. Can anyone shed some light on this? I know I saw some other threads about putting in a --no-ares but I wanted to see if there was something else I might be missing before I change the functionality of the tests.. Next, under Xymond, I'm getting a ton of multiple statuses reports for CONN tests. I can't seem to find a clear archive of what would cause that other than having both IP's listed when you have 2 display servers.. Both servers reference each other as a client and in xymonserver.cfg.. Broken custom graphs on trends page

Xymonsters I'm looking for a way forward on the "broken multiple graphs" problem that I'm experiencing. Excuse the long post; it's part brainstorming, and part context-setting. For a while there have been some discussion on the list about how custom graphs can get displayed incorrectly as if they're multi-graph when they're not. (I think I'm using the correct term "multi-graph" here.) Xymon works out that there are enough RRD files to fill more than one graph, and shows several graphs, each with a different "first" parameter. For me, in many cases all of the lines fit on one graph, and so the other graphs show as a broken image icon. A work-around seems to be to explicitly show "<!-- linecount=N>" to define how many lines should be expected on a set of graphs. I've done this in my devmon templates to prevent the broken graphs. However, this work-around is only available for custom graphs that create their own status webpage using HTML (in which the "<!-- linecount=N>" tag can be included) and send them to Xymon using a "status" message. I have some collectors that send their data to Xymon using "data" messages, because I don't want to grow my Xymon display too wide, with a bunch of dots that can only ever be green. So my graphs show up in the trends column, which is exactly where I want them. But because I can't add a "linecount" anywhere, I get broken graphs. I really don't think I'm doing anything out of the ordinary here, and certainly not deviating from the documentation. I've scoured doco, mailing list, and even code to find out what can be done to work around this problem. Finally, I've come to the conclusion that the Xymon code is simply unable to work out how many graphs to show in all situations, and its heuristics are not working sometimes. This is the only bit of my Xymon installation that is tarnishing its reputation here, meaning that it doesn't compare favourably with other products, so I'd really like to get this fixed somehow. But I'm not sure what to do about it. If I'm simply doing something wrong, then please let me know, and ignore the rest of this post. So, what am I asking for? There might be a way to get Xymon to work out the graph linecount more universally, perhaps at the expense of more code complexity, compatibility, CPU cycles or disk I/O (I think the some code comments describe an intent to avoid scanning the directory). But even so, I think what I'd like to have is a way of overriding the heuristics other than the "linecount" hack. But what's the best way to do this? I'm willing to cut code to get this fixed, but my effort should be inline with the future of Xymon, as well as having maximal usefulness to others. It also needs to not break the existing heuristics used for the standard graphs (disk, inode, if_load, etc). One idea is that I could add a "LINECOUNT" keyword into the graphs.cfg file, something like this: [bindstats] TITLE DNS Queries and Responses YAXIS per second LINECOUNT 6 ... This would help with both data and status messages that are falling victim to this problem. It also occurs to me that the multi-graph code doesn't seem (to me) to make sense for graph definitions that don't have @RRDIDX@ type indexed filename lookups. So perhaps the simplest thing would be to assume linecount is zero if FNPATTERN is not specified in the corresponding graph definition. Other ideas? Cheers Jeremy

Hi, I install xymon collector server and agent in the same machine. Apache server is running in the same server. Now I start collector server and agent both. After that I am trying to open web page with: http://19x.xxx.xxx.xxx/xymon/index.html I am getting following error: *Forbidden* You don't have permission to access /xymon/index.html on this server. ------------------------------ *Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at 19x.xxx.xxx.xxx Port 80* Kindly let me know how can I resolved this problem? Bug and patch - directory name not displayed in error message

Xymon Internal Server Error

Greetings all, I have Xymon 4.3.5 running on redhat 5. It has been working fine for quite some time. Around 3am this morning, the webpages display "internal Server error". I looked at the apache logs and Xymon logs and do not see anything that is wrong or that could be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kapildev Khemraj

IPv6 support in xymon

Hi I'm brand new to this list, so hopefully this has not already been done to death. We are deploying IPv6 across our organisation (spread across Australia) and use xymon for a lot of our monitoring. We have scripts which allow xymon to ping hosts via IPv6 to monitor IPv6 connectivity although it is a bit ugly. I understand that IPv6 support is coming in a later release. I'm curious whether there is an estimate of when this might come out. Also, I just hit an issue with some Windows systems that run BBwin. They were complaining that they could not talk to the xymon server. The problem turned out to be that clients were configured with the DNS name of the xymon server and the server had both an A record (IPv4 address) and a AAAA record (IPv6 address) in DNS. The operating system chooses the IPv6 address first and BBWin was trying to contact the server using IPv6. The server responded with a RST and the communication failed. The client did not fail back to IPv4. The workaround I am planning on doing is to have a separate DNS name for the server just for xymon use (the server does various things) which only has an IPv4 address in DNS until xymon supports server communication over IPv6. I don't want to hardcode the IPv4 address on the clients as that would make it harder to change later. In August, Josh Luthman suggested that most uses of xymon would be dual stack so would not need IPv6 support. I completely agree that most people are going to be using dual-stack for the foreseeable future, but wanted to point out that we want to be able to monitor our IPv6 network as well as our IPv4 network so IPv6 support is important. In a dual stack environment, IPv6 is used in preference, but if there is a problem with IPv6 connectivity systems will normally fail back to IPv4. This can hide IPv6 network problems. As a result it is important to monitor IPv6 and IPv4 independently otherwise you may not know you have a problem. Also as indicated above, having IPv6 support on the server means we can avoid ugly kludges. My 2c worth.
