The built in "ftp" test will check that ftp is up and accepting commands. You do need to install some modules though. CPAN makes life easier. FTP: Net::FTP. An example test is attached. It's pretty much the sample code from http://perldoc.perl.org/Net/FTP.html, with a little editing to hook it into Hobbit. Hi folks. I've been googling all day, searching the forums, and looking at other spots but obviously I'm doing something wrong. I'm trying to now setup some customization in Xymon for business applications. I want to do it either with a homemade script, download, or using built in features. My first task is to try and login to an ftp server using a test id and password to verify it is up and accepting connections. Next would be to connect via sFTP and try the same thing. Upgrading from 4.3.5 to 4.3.7 - need additional patches?

Using '.default.' in hosts.cfg

Hello, Using Xymon 4.3.7 I want to add a '.default.' entry to my hosts.cfg file, but am unsure of its syntax. The man page for hosts.cfg says '...you can define a host name ".default." and put...'. so does that mean: .default. noclear or 127.0.0.1 .default. noclear What do I enter as the IP address, or can it be anything or can it be left out completely? troubleshooting missing alert

Had an event last night that caused a test to go red for 20 minutes, but no email was sent. All other events before and after sent alerts as expected Verified via the info dot that xymon believes it should alert for this event. There is nothing in the maillog for this event, it appears xymon did not send anything. Where else can I look to troubleshoot? No Webpages on RHEL5

Hi, I have installed Xymon 4.3.7 successfully on RHEL5. I can see that the processes are up and running...However, webpages do not generate. Client data?

Hello, Using Xymon 4.3.7 I see that most (possibly all) of the services being monitored for a host contain a link in the web page saying 'Client data available'. By clicking on the link I can see that it shows some info about the host, but my question is why? What is this link for? As far as I can tell there is no way to disable the link from appearing. Is that correct? It may be that we would prefer not having the link present, so preventing users from seeing info about the host itself. DNS test - test of server or resolution?

Hello, I have just started to look at Xymon (4.3.7), and currently have the server monitoring itself. I'm a bit confused with the DNS test. What is it trying to test: 1) that the local host has a running name server (e.g. bind, unbind etc)? 2) that the local server can perform DNS resolution using any name server? 3) that the local host has a running name server and that it can perform resolution using it? As far as I can tell the answer is '3'. I have no name server on the local host (hence getting a red icon), but do have DNS resolution. Is there a way to configure the DNS test to just check on resolution, and leave the 'procs' test to check if 'named' is running or not?
