Weird email alerts issue

Running Xymon 4.3.28, have been since release. I rebuilt my alerts.cfg file from scratch and I have a weird issue with alerts I can't figure out. This seems to be happening on most if not all entries where I have a SERVICE=conn. The only thing I really changed on all my entries was a new mail alias for them, the actual rule itself is the same as before. Entry looks like this: HOST=$rcontrol MAIL $rcontrolmail REPEAT=2h DURATION>10 RECOVERED MAIL $rcontrolmail SERVICE=conn DURATION>10 REPEAT=2d MAIL $rcontrolpage SERVICE=conn DURATION>10 REPEAT=1h TIME=W:1300:2200 MAIL $sms-ems-oncall SERVICE=conn DURATION>10 REPEAT=2d I get an alert, it emails the proper people tied to $rcontrolmail, but it also tries to email SERVICE=conn . I can see them in the email log. Mon Mar 22 13:47:09 2021 host02.procs (159.98.104.166) SERVICE=conn[1022] 1616420829 300 Mon Mar 22 12:59:03 2021 hostlan.disk (199.200.3.170) SERVICE=conn[725] 1616417943 100 Anyone got an idea how to troubleshoot this or what might be causing it?

Hide usernam and password in http test

Hi Im running a xymon server installed from the Terabithia repository Release: xymon-4.3.30-1 I added a http test that requires basic authentication. The password has special characters. The test works when I add the username and password in the full url, ie. https://server/page.htm?user=User&password=p at sw0rd The man pages mention a file ~/.netrc where you can store username and password for basic authentication Which directory should the file be stored on the server. Xymon Encrypting End Points for Azure

I am in the process of migrating xymon to Azure client. My group need to make sure application end points are encrypted meaning that Xymon will need to use secure connection. What is the best way of accomplishing this task that you can recommend?

different memory reports across versions

Ive notived that xymon servers report memory usage differently across versions eg 4.3.12 reports on physical, swap 4.3.17 reports on physical, actual, swap4.3.28 reports on real/physical, actual/virtual, swap/page 4.3.30 reports on physical:, virtual:, page: Are these simple differences between versions or is there some configuration Ive not come across before that is determining these ? didds

Gaps in graphs

Issues logging into Xymon after new install Ubuntu 16.04

Just in the hopes of saving someone else the arduous journey that I went through. This turned out to be a permissions error. So. With Xymon 4.3.25 running on Ubuntu 16.04 server with Apache2 2.4.18, I was able to fix the 403 Forbidden error by editing the /etc/apache2/conf-available/xymon.cfg file and replacing every instance of Require local with Require all granted. After a restart of the apache2 server, and a restart of xymon, just to be on the safe side, everything worked out fine. The primary issue for me was that the xymon log files had errors, but following those errors never led me in the direction of determining that they were caused by permissions being used by Apache. Issues logging into Xymon after new install Ubuntu 16.04

Folks, I'm a newbie to xymon and not the strongest linux user admittedly. I've gone through the available documentation that I've been able to locate and I am completely stumped and stuck. No matter what I do, I get an error 403 when I try to access the Xymon server page. So. My first question. Do I have to access the Xymon web page from the local host or can I access it from a web browser on another host? If I can access it from a browser on a different machine, what steps do I need to take to diagnose why I can't access the webpages? From what I can determine, the Xymon service is active and running. I've started, stopped, and restarted them multiple times using sudo service xymon <command>. ps afx | grep hobbit yields user at utility:/usr/lib/xymon/server/etc$ ps afx | grep hobbit 5631 pts/0 S+ 0:00 \_ grep --color=auto hobbit ps afx| grep hobbit | grep -v grep yields nothing. I've restarted apache2 services in a similar fashion after changing Allow from localhost to Allow from all. Still nothing. I've seen a few threads with similar questions, but none of them have been very helpful and I can't figure out anything else to do. Where do I start to unravel this particular gordian knot?
