upgrade from 4.20 to 4.3.7, client update necessary?

existing 4.20 setup, server being retired. New box has 4.3.7 installed and working. Testing some of the external hosts client side scripts (sending to new box) seems to work fine, using the existing 4.2.0 client. Is there a pressing reason the client side stuff must be upgraded, or can I just not bother?

Hi folks. I'm still trying to clean up the analysis.cfg and alerts.cfg files to get emails going the way we expect them to when things happen. In the example below, I have a group in analysis.cfg called SRMDBASE. In alerts.cfg I set up a macro called $MAC_SRMDBASE. I want any PROC or SVC alerts for the host called FileMaker01 to send an email to the srmdbase email address. So in alerts I have the section GROUP=SRMDBASE $MAC_SRMDBASE We stopped the PROC fmserver.exe on filemaker01 host and the SRMINFRA team got an email but the srmdbase team didn't. Can someone point me to some insight ? Thanks! Hi all, I copy the nongreen.sh to redonly.sh, then I remove only the yellow for only get red alert. If I go to url http://myserver/xymon-cgi/redonly.sh it work great but not in html. I had in xymonmenu.cfg the same string as nongreen.html to get the "redonly.html" But the system do not make one. What do I need to get it work ? client tests not showing up

I'm having an odd problem with my client tests. I am using the same client, built and tarred for each of my OS versions, and then tarred out and started on each of my servers. I'm just using the default reports (cpu, disk etc). Some of my servers are reporting fine, but others are not reporting at all. I have confirmed that I can telnet to port 1984 on my xymon server from all of these servers. I'd like to keep everything on list as much as possible. I just installed this http://communities.quest.com/docs/DOC-5588 on Win7 64 bit. Connects to my 4.2.3 just fine (I use http auth in the URL). installation - configure -rrdtool not found

Trying to install xymon-4.3.7. No doubt simple, but, on a SLES11 box, rrdtool is installed (/usr/bin/rrdtool). A couple other rrd named files as well. But configure does not find it. The suggestion to include command line items (I think it is tellling me that) is not clear to me. Guidance appreciated.
