BBwin crashing on one server

Hi. We have been using hobbit/Xymon for a very long time, with BBwin as windows client. I know BBwin is not an official client, but it feels like there is no other place for BBwin support. Yesterday I installed BBwin on three new servers (Windows 2008 R2 SP1). On one of them, it has crashed twice since then. I can't remember BBwin crashing ever on any other server. I am posting this here with the hope that someone else has experienced this, or might have any idea on how to start troubleshooting it. xymon 4.3.6 Graph error

Hi I'm running xymon 4.3.6 and have installed it for the 1st time. This is a vanilla installation on solaris 10! I'm not able to display any graph telemetry, get the following error when I click on the graph icon "Garbage ': 14-Dec-2011 07:34:29' after command: COMMENT:Updated: 14-Dec-2011 07:34:29" Is there a bug with this version? None that I know of, however for each host, you can tell the alerts under the info dot. Issues after upgrade from 4.2.3 to 4.3.5

Hi All - I've been running hobbit/xymon for a long time, but I've finally just joined the list due to a number of issues after I upgraded from 4.2.3 to 4.3.5. I walked through and fixed all the file names and everything SEEMS ok, but am seeing a number of strange things: a) When I start up xymon, I don't get my previous state back. The xymond options have: --restart=/usr/lib/xymon/server/tmp/xymond.chk --checkpoint-file=/usr/lib/xymon/server/tmp/xymond.chk And the files has data: 8136 /usr/lib/xymon/server/tmp/xymond.chk But when I restart the server or service, I seem to lose all data and anything that has been disabled or acked is now once again back to it's starting state. b) I can't seem to add new machines. I add a machine to hosts.cfg and analysis.cfg and it shows up on the web page, but it never seems to actually receive any data. I've tried reloading the service, but that doesn't seem to help. I even tried something like: xymon localhost 'enable machine.company.com' But it did not help. I see on the Ghost client page that it seems to recognize the correlation as it has a candidate, but isn't doing anything. Do I need to do something different with this newer version to enable a machine instead of just adding it to the two files? c) Last issue is very similar to the previous issue. I removed a machine from the hosts.cfg file, then ran: xymon localhost 'drop machine.company.com' But when it didn't check in for an hour, it still seemingly went purple and sent out emails/pages. As I said, any files seem to be accessible as far as I can tell, but maybe since the error message is not very verbose, I am not looking in the right place. I know these probably all seem like newbie questions, but I have done all the debugging I seem to be able to do and can't figure anything out on these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! With some assistance from users on here I've finally managed to get this working after starting with LOG %.* %.*error.* COLOR=red. Some careful and staged refinement of the regex got me to this, LOG %application "%Backup Exec System Recovery.{1,50}Error.*" COLOR=red That seems to work fine and gives me the level of granularity for the failures that I wanted. In other projects we tend to be very suspicious of unqualified .+ expansions, as they can consume a lot of memory. make install overwrites xymon-apache.conf (and creates unnecessary bak files)

On the latest trunk, a make install overwrites xymon-apache.conf without either merging in my additions to it, or making a backup of the existing file. This resulted in me losing the additions that I made to it on Monday. Rather annoying. This appears to be the line in the make install output that is so offensive :p cd etcfiles; cp -fp xymon-apache.conf /usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/xymon-apache.conf It seems some other configuration files have this kind of thing: cd etcfiles; ../../build/merge-sects graphs.cfg /usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/graphs.cfg cd etcfiles; ../../build/merge-lines columndoc.csv /usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/columndoc.csv ...which presumably does some merging. Can we get this on xymon-apache too? I was actually going to submit my changes to xymon-apache.conf for possible inclusion in the trunk source - so I'll redo my changes now... Hi, version 4.3.6 has been uploaded to Sourceforge a few moments ago, and should be available on the mirror sites when you read this. This release is mostly a bug-fix release, although it also does include a few new features - most notable is perhaps the new "appfeed" utility to provide data for Xymon smartphone apps. I do not expect any more releases in the 4.3.x series, unless a critical bug is found. Work is now beginning on the 4.4 series, with the focus currently being on IPv6 support. How to increase max message size

I have a few hosts that are sending large status messages and am getting: 2011-12-11 20:16:24 Oversize status msg from 64.94.253.22 for host.company.com:ports truncated (n=340208, limit=262144) I've tried increasing MAXLINE in xymonserver.cfg, but that does not seem to have fixed the issue. Where can I increase this, as I'm sick of seeing xymond being yellow all the time. Thanks! Skadz
