Xymon 4.3.2 Graph Problem

Hi All, After installing Xymon 4.3.2 on my Ubuntu Linux 10.10 (and even on Ubuntu Linux 9.10 & 9.04), I have a problem with all graphs - they are not showing at all. I can remove this version & install Xymon 4.3.0 beta2 and everything works perfectly. The make & make install of 4.3.2 ran through without any problems. What I see, for example, on the conn page is : , Fri Jun 10 07:55:41 2011 conn ok Service conn on dave-VirtualBox is OK (up) green 10.0.2.15 is alive (0.20 ms) Status unchanged in 1 days,0 hours, 6 minutes Status message received from 127.0.0.1 Client data available xymongraph tcp:conn Zoom graph Instead of a graph appearing, I see "xymongraph tcp:conn". When clicking on the "Zoom graph" icon, the next page shows an Invalid Request with the following text: I don't understand ': 10-Jun-2011 07:57:55' in command: 'COMMENT:Updated: 10-Jun-2011 07:57:55'. Default time to purple

What is the default time for a host to show purple for a test that has not run in a while.... Basically, I have a custom script I run in the background and update the bb-monitor (running v4.2.2)...I know if I run this test frequently everything will be green or ok, but its something I'd like to run only once or twice a day.... Case sensitive DISK file systems

I have machines with 2 separate file systems: /opt/IBM and /opt/ibm. Xymon is getting confused when it updates the disk rrd graphs. It appears to be thinking upper case and lower case IBM are the same thing. It creates both rrd files, but tries to update the same rrd file twice, once for each file system. Is something that can be done to make Xymon case sensitive when it goes to update the disk rrds? David

xymon/bbwin and windows disk check

Been using xymon for years, just added bbwin for windows clients. Have the windows clients in central mode Getting alerts for a windows disk filling up, tried to ignore it like I do for linux clients in hobbit-clients.cfg HOST=name DISK D 101 101 But that is not working. It's behaving as if it were in local mode, or similar. Suggestions/advice?

Bad xymonclient-runtime.cfg perms on 4.3.3 client

This may help someone, or it may already be a FAQ that I didn't find. I have a 4.3.3 client prototype running on a RHEL 5.6 platform hardened to about 90% of the Center for Internet Security RHEL5 benchmark (customer standard). In /etc/default/xymon-client, XYMONSERVERS was correctly set, but the client kept trying to connect to 127.0.0.1. After much head-banging, I realized that clientlaunch.log was griping about not being unable to READ /var/run/xymonclient-runtime.cfg, which after all was being correctly updated with the XYMSRV setting from XYMONSERVERS at every launch. Found that it was root:adm with 640 perms, apparently root startup could write it but xymon child daemon could not read. chowned to root:xymon and all is well even after multiple restarts. CIS umask setting for root is 0077, so it looks like whatever creates this explicitly sets the perms. I installed via rpm built from current Sourceforge 4.3.3 tarball using Francois Herbert's March instructions for fixing the broken spec file, in case that has any bearing. I don't see anything in the spec or init files setting perms on the file.

Proxying

Hi all, Due to the way our networks are setup over the long haul, I'm setting up a second xymon proxy server on another network. So I will now have a main server on our corporate network, it will handle all machines. Then I have 1 proxy on a private network. It is monitoring all 3 of our private networks and forwarding up to the main server, to itself (on port 1985) and to a test server (my 4.3.0 machine, that I need to upgrade). The second proxy will also monitor all 3 of the private networks, it is on one of the other private networks, and has its own route to the main server. The theory is that if we lose the MPLS between the networks, we still can get the info we need to the main. So my question is, is there any problem with 2 proxy servers sending the same info to the main? I have the first proxy set to monitor the main, and if the main goes down, it takes over alerting. I plan on having the 2nd proxy just monitor the 1st proxy (and the main) and if they are both down, it will send an alert for the oncall to manually have that machine start alerting. Paul.
