conn/ping latency warning

How do I enable warnings/alerts based on the conn/ping "latency" for a device? I know it will allow you to set warnings based on the amount of fails but not the latency itself - do I need a custom script/command for this? EG. Go yellow on 500ms+ ping red on 1000ms+ ping? Host several XYmon on the same server (a potential request ?)

Hi, I'm wondering if I can host 2 XYmon on the same server who got 2 IPs. XYmon01 binded on IP01 receives informations from XYmon clients A, B, C, D and XYmon02 binded on IP02 receives and display status from clients E, F, G, H.. My goal is to offer different view for totally different people / needs and I don't want to mix everything on one XYmon. Netbackup test

Hi, I got this heavily modified nbu.ksh script originally from deadcat NBU.3.4.1.02. It started as a very specialized test for our particular environment. I have modified it today to get a more common approach. It might not suit the enterprise NetBackup solutions as they might be to large. Smaller and midsized solutions might find it useful. I use it for our Netbackup 6.5.4 on solaris with Xymon 4.3.0.0_beta2 Anyone interested to have a go? mail me at rolands at logicaltech dot com dot au and I send a copy. VMware Guests Monitor

I am not much of a bash script artist, but I know the logic that I need to use for an EXT that I think many VMware users would find handy. The purpose of this EXT is to provide a list of virtual machines that are allocated to the host, and indicate whether or not they are running. Trending Interfaces without IP addresses

Can you alter the data at the source? i.e. hack the result of the netstat command to include a "fake" IP address. Use perl/sed/awk/etc to insert a line with an IP address. The client will then send the data to the server to process as a new interface. Craig

Hello, I have several IDS sensors that I would like to take bandwidth snapshots of the IDS interface. I noticed that the ifstat command to grab the statistics only grabs statistics for the interface with an IP address assigned to it; I have tried modifying it to grab the statistics for the unnumbered interface, but it still does not return any data. The sensors run FreeBSD. So, does anyone know of a way to get Xymon to gather statistics of an interface that is up with an active link (one-way tap) but does not have an IP address? Thanks, Conrad

xymon notes editor

I am trying to install xymon notes editor but am coming up with an error. When I click on the administration tab and then edit notes, I get an internal server error. As a side note, when the 500 internal server error page shows up, it mentions to contact server administrator. When is that set? Warning threshold for ping and email alert

Is there a way to set a warning/critical threshold for the "conn" ping test? EG. can I get it to show yellow/red when pings hit a defined amount such as 2000ms+? To send email alerts from Xymon - do I need to setup mail in CentOS first and it should be automatic? Propagating client-side external tests to more than one BBDISPLAY

I have the following setup for several of my clients where their Xymon Server is configured send reports to their local Xymon server which then updates my Xymon server over VPN links like so: Site1-xymon-clients --> Site1 Xymon Server --> My Xymon server Site2-xymon-clients --> Site2 Xymon Server ---/ / / Site3-xymon-clients --> Site3 Xymon Server -----/ / Site4-xymon-clients --> Site4 Xymon Server -------/ Site1-Site4 hobbitserver.cfg: --[snip]-- BBDISP="0.0.0.0" BBDISPLAYS="<local xymon ip> <my Xymon IP>" --[snip]-- My Xymon server's bb-hosts file is configured such that each remote site has it's own link on my main Xymon page and below that Site link is their Xymon main page where all reports and sub pages are represented in the same format as their local Xymon server's layout. The only remote tests/reports that are not being propagated to my Xymon server are those that are generated by client-side external scripts. My question: Can reports generated by client-side external scripts be propagated to a second BBDISPLAY server: A: Without using bbproxy and B: Without modifying the BBDISP and BBDISPLAY variables in the clients' hobbitclient.cfg file to directly send reports to two BBDISPLAY servers -- Bill Arlofski Reverse Polarity, LLC
