Hi All, I am doing an upgrade from 4.2.0 to 4.3.0-0 beta 2 on a new server. I have read in the forums, that you can do a brand new server installation (which I have done) and then you just need to stop Xymon on both servers and copy over the "data" directory and modify permissions accordingly to migrate. Is there a way that I can test moving over the data and hosts, then clean up all of the data before trying again? I have tried removing the data from /home/xymon/data and from /home/xymon/server/tmp but each time it has trouble saying it can't access the ACK folder in data or the checkpoint file..... how does it know that it had the info previously, if i have deleted all the data??? Any suggestions would help. Thanks. Geoff.

bb-win & client-local.cfg

Hi all Hoping for a little help on this one. Got a stream of errors coming through from some wintendo clients running bb-win. See example below. We would like to ignore some errors related to certain messages. I was under the impression that the following in client-local.cfg would do it. [win32] eventlog:Security ignore Success eventlog:System ignore Information *eventlog:Application ignore Citrix System Monitoring ignore MetaFrameEvents* Appears to not be the case. How do we configure the client-local.cfg to ignore instances of the first and last error, but not instances like the middle one below? RHEL5 client

Folks I installed the Xymon client on a Red Hat 5 server. It is showing up in the Ghost report with the 127.0.0.1 IP address. I don't see where in the configuration files to set the IP address and/or the host name for the client. Can someone point me to the right place? We run Hobbit on a Red Hat 4 server. TS: Acknowledging a device

I have Xymon 4.3.0-0.beta2 running on CentOS 5.4. I have a device with a client running on it that is being removed. I Acknowledge the RED by entering: 1000 minutes and a message describing the event and hit Enter I have tried checking the Ack Multiple box and not checking the box I tried to just enter the info on the bottom line and do Send - still no change. I get back this message: even if done more than once The ICON for conn stays a RED smiley face and never changes to a RED checkmark. What am I doing wrong? MAC address in the client data?

All, I don't know if this quirk is peculiar to Solaris or is the same on other flavours of UNIX, but if you are not the root user and you run the ifconfig(1m) command it does not show the MAC address assigned to the interfaces. In this manner when I install Xymon on a new server the configuration information is automatically updated in my server database. The question is: How can I get the MAC address? By default the Xymon client is installed and run under the hobbit user ID. Is there any way I can configure the hobbitclient-sunos.sh script to run as root? rrd history chart disappears under conn, memory and disk after 24 hours

Hi, I installed and configured xymon-4.3.0-beta2. Everything looks fine. But there is one strange thing beyond my understood. The rrd history chart disappears under tests/columns of conn, disk and memory after running 24 hours. But I can see these charts under column trends. No time effect to the tests/columns of cpu and my custom tests. These rrd charts will stay there as far as time goes. If I add a new client, I can see these rrd charts under conn, disk and memory during the first 24 hours (or the first day). Anyone sees the same phenomenon? Did I miss something in configuration? Status unchanged message seems incorrect

A client had a recent power outage that affected some equipment. While going over the Xymon graphs etc, I was able to clearly correlate the outage times with the connectivity losses we experienced, but I noticed something strange. Even though the graph for the conn test (for example) clearly shows that connectivity was lost from about 4:30pm Friday until about 4:00am Saturday, and it is about 9:30am now, the report just above the graph says "Status unchanged in 73 days,21 hours, 55 minutes" which is clearly incorrect. (see attached image) Since the graph shows that it started responding to IMCP at about 4:00am shouldn't that message say something more like "Status unchanged in 5 hours 30 minutes" I'd appreciate any insight... Hi Guys I need to monitor a VM environment to eliminate it from some performance problems at a client. Has anybody got some tips for me on how to get this right? Is there scripts? Anything I should be aware of? Just point me and I will sort it out. Regards Neil
