[hobbit] tru64 file system vanished.

Hello, I have a situation where the /var/adm/messages file system is being reported as missing by hobbit under the “msgs” column. We’ve confirmed that the file system is still there and even tried a hobbit stop/start to no avail. We have not loaded a new client on this server, still running the older bbclient but it’s worked fine up till now. Any ideas? Thanks, Manny -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Hi All, What are the different color codes and letters i.e. (R,S) for alerts on the info page ? Why will my normal macro config not work ie $NEWHOSTS=host1,host2 but $NEWHOSTS=%(host1|host2) works ? I have a alert with a group as above and I have a general alert rule for the rest of the page. I have the group definition first and then the page definition second. "route" tag with badconn / .default. hosts

Hi all I'm trying to use the ".default." host, but it does not seem to work as expected : 0.0.0.0 .default. # notrends badconn:1:2:3 I then add a new host : 10.4.16.21 auckland but the "conn" test goes from green to red. Shouldn't the "badconn" tag be applied for ALL hosts ? Second thing, using the "route" tag works fine like this : 10.5.8.71 icare # route:fmangeant 10.5.8.55 fmangeant If 'fmangeant' is down, I get a yellow page for the conn test saying "The router fmangeant (IP:10.5.8.55) is not reachable, causing this host to be unreachable." But if I use the "route" tag with a "badconn" tag, I still gest a red page for the conn test... Is there something I'm missing ? System is running Gentoo Linux, Hobbit 4.1.2p1 Thanks in advance. showing custom larrd

Hi, I've got a strange behavior of my custom larrd graphs, maybe someone can help me with this one. I added a few custom larrd's and all of them shows up in the "trends" page of the host, but on the page of the specific test there is no graph. On the "default" tests like disk, cpu, ... the graphs are ok. In the hobbitserver.cfg configuration file the name of the test is specified in the LARRDS & GRAPHS list. System info : OS : debian Hobbit : 4.1.2 (installed from debian package) Kind regards, Ivan Verbeeck

weird disk error - aix

Hi, Once or twice a day, I get the disk test on ONE of my AIX boxes go red. When I look at it, it says: Expected string (%Used and Mounted) not found in df output header realmem 1048576 Amount of usable physical memory in Kbytes False The next cycle (5 minutes) it goes right back to being green with the correct data. This happens once or twice a day. Any ideas?

Hello Everyone, I am wondering if there is a "summary directive" for the bb-hosts file to work with Hobbit? I have been able to identify all of the settings thus far except for this one directive. I looked through the man-pages and other html help I could find but just can't find it. We are moving to Hobbit from BB-BTF and this is a directive that has been used. Any input is appreciated. Hobbit 4.1.2p1 available

Some of you have already noticed that I put a 4.1.2p1 "patch 1" release up for download on my Hobbit demo-site. It is hereby officially released and available via Sourceforge. As the version number indicates, this is solely a bug-fix release for 4.1.2. I am working on some new stuff, but you won't find it in this release (if you're interested, get the snapshots instead). This release fixes a number of bugs in Hobbit 4.1.2, some of which could cause parts of Hobbit to crash; it also changes how alerts are handled when a status goes green->yellow->red. Updating is recommended. Changes from 4.1.2 -> 4.1.2p1 (10 Nov 2005) ------------------------------------------- Bugfixes: * hobbitd could crash when processing a "combo" message, due to an incorrect test of the color of one message inside the combo-message before that color was actually deciphered. * hobbitd_alert would crash when attempting to save a checkpoint while cleaning up a "dead" alert. * Disk graphs would show up with all graphs in a single image, when the status message included any colored icons (typically, when the status was red or yellow). * The handling of alerts was counting the duration of an event based on when the color last changed. This meant that each time the color changed, any DURATION counters were reset. This would cause alerts to not go out if a status was changing between yellow and red faster than any DURATION setting. Changed this to count the event start as the *first* time the status went into an alert state (yellow or red, usually). * An idle hobbitd process would accumulate zombie processes. Improvements: * When a status goes yellow->red, the repeat-interval is now cleared for any alerts. This makes sure you get an alert immediately for the most severe state seen. This only affects the first such transition; if the status later changes between yellow/red, this normal REPEAT interval applies. Regards, Henrik
