can't get my apache trends to work

i think i set up everything properly : -added an "apache=http://bigbrother/server-status?auto" for my bigbrother server, (le server-status page works) -removed my existing .rrd file for bigbrother,e -hobbit created the file but, it doesn' seem to feed it; in my rrd-data.log, i'm getting : 2005-07-28 16:17:00 RRD error updating /data1/hobbit/data/rrd/bigbrother/apache.rrd from 127.0.0.1: expected 3 data source readings (got 6) from 1122560220:277053:383710:35:10:.186747:4.75758:... did i miss something ? -- Olivier Beau

Possible bug dropping test

Hi Henrik This bug might be corrected in the latest version (I am still on 4.0.5RC1) So please ignore this if it is. If we enable the oratns test, everything is good. However, it refuses to go away when I try and remove it. First I removed it from the bb-hosts file, then used the command ~/server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop HOSTNAME oratns" All the history and stuff gets deleted, which is good. However, the rrd file stays, and so does the smiley. I will not go away. It keeps reporting. After a while, it goes purple but it's still there. On a similar note, if for some reason one of my servers has the listener on port 1522 instead of the default 1521, is there a way to specify what port to check on? Or even specify 2 ports, and report green if it finds the listener on either? extension questions

My 2 dumb questions of the week: Is "dnsinfo" an extension script? What do I need to be able to set it up and use it for my domains within Hobbit? How is the "notes' functionality set up" Does this use the bb-notes PHP extension or these something else required to make this work? TIA

DNS syntax?

What is the proper dig syntax? I tried a couple of things: 0.0.0.0 ns1.example.com #noconn dig:soa=example.com - looked up A record for foo.com, not the soa. 0.0.0.0 ns2.example.com #noconn dig=soa:example.com - just fails I think I've got all the rest of the cruft out of my install - it was running 4.0.1, and had something horribly messed up. But I've just deleted everything and rebuilt it from scratch. I also have a SPEC file that has been relatively successful at setting up a hobbit-client rpm. macros in hobbit-alerts.cfg & fatal error

Hi all, I'm new to the hobbit list this week I just installed our first hobbit server (migrating from Big Brother). In testing I have hobbit working with our qpage sever but when I tried to create a macro in hobbit-alerts.cfg for pager recipients I received a fatal signal error for hobbitd_alert it then went purple I see in the archive that there is a patch?? I'm running 4.0.4 on Red Hat AS 3 and have I seen a security issue about this version of hobbit for DoS attacks?? Thanks! Tracey Rogers VCU-UCC 804.828.4421

Difficulties building hobbitclient-0.3

I'm having trouble building hobbitclient-0.3 on both Fedora Core 3 and 4 systems. I unpacked the .tgz source, ran ./configure followed by make and get the error below. Are you building the client that's included with hobbit 4.1 or the standalone package from the hobbit Sourceforge site? The standalone client will only work with one of the BSD's. There is a client included with Hobbit 4.1 should work with most Unices. I just built it on FC4 without a problem, and am running it on a RHES3 box. Can't seem to get bbmrtg and hobbit working

Hello, I am stuck trying to get a MRTG column to display next the conn column in my hobbit configuration. This is what I have done thus far: 1) Modified hobbitlaunch.cfg to run MRTG and bbmrtg 2) Modified the mrtg config to use rrd vice native mode; specified bb*[params] 3) Installed 14all.cgi for the bbmrtg script to use I have can run the bbmrtg script and get html output that I assume would be placed in side the output files for the hobbit. You could modify the BBHOME/web/bb_header file to display the fields and buttons you needed.
