RPM builds

I've made a few changes to the hobbit.spec file which make it easier for me to customize the building of hobbit RPMs. I've attached the new spec file and the modified init and logrotate files, in case anyone is interested. To customize the RPM, change the definitions at the top of the spec file. Place the init and logrotate files in your RPM_SOURCE_DIR (along with the hobbit tarball). Then run 'rpmbuild -ba hobbit.spec' I thought this might be useful to others who want to change some of the defaults. -Dan

Don't you just love ".0" releases ? Anyway, enough embarrassing bugs have been reported that I think it's best to do a ".1" release quickly. So new tar-balls, deb's and rpm's are on their way. Henrik

hobbit client issues

In addition to the problems with vmstat I mentioned in my last e-mail. It appears that "runclient.sh stop" doesn't work. It appears that something is respawning the process as quickly as they are killed. I couldn't even kill them off by hand. I had to remove the run permissions from the executables before I could stop them. I am running this on a RedHat ES3 box. Let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks, Larry Barber

RPM install on CentOS

Okay, I downloaded the new RPMs for 4.1.0. I've been using the Fedora RPMS on CentOS, which seem to work perfectly. But, the FC4 RPMs need a little tweaking to get working, because the FC4 changes aren't in RH Enterprise (and CentOS) yet. I had to create links for /lib/libcrypto.so.5 and /lib/libssl.so.5 and install the RPM with --nodeps. I'm not a big fan of doing this, but it seems to work. I like the RPMs, but should I be compiling the source instead of trying to force Fedora RPMs onto CentOS? I anyone else using RPMs with RH ES or CentOS?

Small goof-up in the hobbitlaunch.cfg file

I just noticed I've made a small goof-up in the hobbitlaunch.cfg that is created when you build 4.1.0: There's a line missing in the new [hobbitclient] section at the bottom of the file: The INTERVAL 5m is missing, causing hobbitlaunch to try and run the client script lots of times. Just add that line, and your server load should go back to normal :-) Henrik

Greetings! Did miss something with a hobbit-alerts.cfg configuration change ? A slice of my cfg file: $AGOPS=someone at somewhere.com $BADCOLORS='COLOR=red,purple' $OPTS='DURATION>5 RECOVERED REPEAT=1h FORMAT=TEXT' HOST=* EXPAGE=tier1 MAIL $AGOPS $OPTS $BADCOLORS But hobbitd_alert --dump-config now yields: EXPAGE=tier1 HOST=* MAIL someone at somewhere.com FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=30 MAIL 'DURATION>5 FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=30 MAIL 'COLOR=red,purple' FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=30 Which now tries to mail to DURATION and COLOR=red and sends out YELLOW alerts as well. Was working previously. -- steve
