COLOR value in custom notification script

Henrik, Previously in Big Brother we would have access to the BBCOLORVALUE variable for custom notification scripts. I was using this to set the background color as well as the subject line for the notifications that would go out. I know that I can access this through a query of the bb program, but was wondering if it is possible to make that variable available to the custom notification scripts some other way? Thanks, Robert

Alert Escalation

I'm trying to set up an alert so that it goes to a specific user after 10 minutes. If not acknowledged in 10 minutes, I want it to go to a second user. If he/she doesn't acknowledge it in another 10 minutes, I want to alert the first user again, and repeat in this fashion until it's acknowledged (or fixed). So, "user 1" would get the alert after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 50 minutes, etc. and "user 2" after 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, etc. For testing, I have the alert defined like: HOST=testhost.syr.edu RECOVERED MAIL user1 at syr.edu FORMAT=TEXT DURATION>10 REPEAT=20 MAIL user2 at syr.edu FORMAT=SMS DURATION>20 REPEAT=20 What happens is the first alert (FORMAT=TEXT) goes out at 10 minutes, nothing at 20 minutes, both at 30 miuntes, nothing at 40 minutes, both at 50 minutes, and so on. I have checked Apache error log and I didn found any problem. The permission is set 755 and I can't found any problem in hobbit logs Which user is user by hobbit/apache to perform this action (enable/disable) ? hobbit 4.1.1 on hpux 11.11

Hello folks, Hi Henrik, i am trying to get the newest hobbit 4.1.1 on hpux running. Unfortunatelly so long without success.. The compilation succeed, but following warnings appears. 4.1.1 client vmstat under RedHat

Hi, the new hobbit client doesn't recognize the different vmstat versions that exist under RedHat. Using the bbclient, I changed the BBOSTYPE in vmstat-bf.sh to debian3 or redhat or whatever. What can I do in the new hobbit client? Dirk

writing to /usr?

I installed hobbit 4.1.1, saw that it was working, and ignored it for a few hours... Then I saw purples for the client tests.. checking /var/log/hobbit/hobbitclient.log showed: /usr/lib/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient.sh: line 17: /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp/msg.txt: Permission denied /usr/lib/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient.sh: line 18: /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp/msg.txt: Permission denied /usr/lib/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient.sh: line 19: /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp/msg.txt: No such file or directory Sure enough, /usr/lib/hobbit/client/tmp was not writable by the hobbit user. But, shouldn't things like that be written to /var instead of /usr? RPM builds

I've made a few changes to the hobbit.spec file which make it easier for me to customize the building of hobbit RPMs. I've attached the new spec file and the modified init and logrotate files, in case anyone is interested. To customize the RPM, change the definitions at the top of the spec file. Place the init and logrotate files in your RPM_SOURCE_DIR (along with the hobbit tarball). Then run 'rpmbuild -ba hobbit.spec' I thought this might be useful to others who want to change some of the defaults. -Dan

Don't you just love ".0" releases ? Anyway, enough embarrassing bugs have been reported that I think it's best to do a ".1" release quickly. So new tar-balls, deb's and rpm's are on their way. Henrik
