Hi Guys/Girls For those of you that are interested it is very easy and possible to write a application in Mono that reads the windows performance counters and then report them back to XyMon. So if you guys and or girls want some free code to get you going with the mono project drop me a mail and I will be more than happy to help. Basically you compile a windows application on *nix (lovely) and schedule it with bbwin. Runs pretty well. It is a starting point but I think with a little work I could make it generic and you could use this to monitor any performance counter just by editing a INI/CFG file. So if you are interested in developing your own monitors in a fast effective way give me a shout and I will get in contact with you. Regards Neil

A xymon site with bbwin runinning?

Can someone give me a link to a xymon site with bbwin runinning? I want to show our Windows people with out installing Actualy a couple of sites since we block a number of sites. A Big Bother site would be ok if running bb. Thanks

bbproxy / max_servers

hi, I would like to configure bbproxy to reports to 5 hobbit servers. I saw in man page there is a limit to 3. Is there any reason for that ? is it a problem to increase it ? bbproxy.c [...] #define MAX_SERVERS 3 [...] Thanks, regards, nicolas Lienard

History problem on specific devices

Hi, I got some devices with a "/" in the hostname because there are switch devices. For instance: GBWI-IDG-CSW08/10 or GBWI-IDG-CSW09/11 When i click on each metric, then i click on "history" button, i always got the msg: "Cannot open history file" On fs, the directory hostname doesn't exist in hist folder. MS SQL Monitoring

Hi Guys Maybe you can help. I would like to monitor my MS SQL installations with more detail. They give more trouble than the MySQL installs (go figure). Anyway went to dead cat download the bb-sqlserver.vbs script. I made changes to the BBWin.cfg script to run this script. The entry looks as follows <load value="cscript bb-sqlserver.vbs" timer="1m" />. The problem is when I run this script but it throws some weird wmiprvse.exe unkown software exception. Anyway this script does not run. I had a look at the mail archives and I found a thread where they mentioned doing some modifications to the script to make it work. I did follow these steps. Anyway..... has anyone had success in monitoring more SQL specific data. Regards Neil

[hobbit] link bb_footer missing

Never mind, found this issue. xymon/server/web contains the bb_footer file. bb2_footer should be a symlink to bb_footer, but bb2_footer contains the text "link bb_footer" hence why I see that and not the actual footer. I deleted xymon/server/web/* and did "make install" and the files and links were put in place correctly. Craig

Installation problem with RRDtool

Hi, I am having a problem installing xymon onto my Solaris 10 server. I have installed all the extra software packages required for xymon, but when I run the ./configure script for xymon I get the following error. bbmons01 /prod/tmp/xymon-4.2.2:> ./configure Configuration script for Xymon This script asks a few questions and builds a Makefile to compile Xymon Checking your make-utility Checking pre-requisites for building Xymon Checking for fping ... Hobbit has a built-in ping utility (hobbitping) However, it is not yet fully stable and therefore it may be best to use the external fping utility instead. Yes, CGI_GHOSTS_OPTS="--env=/usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg" Is an issue. I added that and my ghost clients report screen is no longer all blue, I have the blue bar on the left. I still have "link bb_footer" showing though. Looking further it seems to be the last level html page with an issue. i.e. bb2.html does not have any pages below it, it has an issue. Page "oracle" has clients listed on it, so it does not have a problem. The "conn" page for a host has the link bb_footer issue. So my theory now is something to do with the web page generation for leaf pages... An early release of 4.3.0 had this listed in hobbitcgi.cfg CGI_NOTIFYLOG_OPT="--env=/usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg" CGI_HOSTLIST_OPT="--env=/usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg" I have put that in but it only resolved report pages being totally blue. Another thing I have noticed is my menu (views reports etc) does not show up for the bb2.html page, but it is there for the main page and critical systems page. Craig
