I can't quite figure it out from the documentation. Are the sections in the client-local.cfg file cumulative? That is, if I have a redhat server named "servA", do both the "[redhat]" and "[servA]" sections apply? Or is it just the first section in the cfg file that matches that applies? David Masterson

RRD graphs appearing in trends but not in Devmon columns?

I'm happily getting graphs for if_load and temp for Cisco routers, but the graphs are only appearing in the trends column. RRD graphs are appearing in Devmon-checked memory and cpu columns, but presumably that's due to them using standard text instead of specific Devmon syntax. I'm using "if_load=devmon,temp=devmon" in TEST2RRD in hobbitserver.cfg, as documented in Devmon's docs/GRAPHING, should that be working? Also "if_load::1,temp" in GRAPHS. I'm not sure, because the man page for hobbitserver.cfg suggests a "bb-hostsvc.cgi(1)" man page, which doesn't seem to exist. http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/help/manpages/man5/hobbitserver.cfg.5.html#lbAM Ah, it's been partially renamed to hobbitsvc.cgi(1). That man page only seems to address "TEST2RRD=test,test", not the optional =RRDSERVICE syntax in hobbitserver.cfg(5). devmon-0.3.1-beta1, xymon-4.2.3-RC1. I haven't applied patches, because I thought they were both already patched for each other. I'm sure I'm missing something simple (perhaps a TEST2RRD parsing patch).

Remote hobbit server's ports & procs flapping Green/Clear on secondary BBDISPLAY

Per my email to the list last night to Neil entitled "Re: [hobbit] Securing Xymon Over Internet" I have some clients with their own local hobbit server which I have configured to also send to my xymon server as a secondary BBDISPLAY. I have noticed that two tests on one remote server continually go green and then clear at the same time. That is, just now at 08:03:08 procs shows that it when from CLEAR to GREEN, then at the same time when BACK from GREEN to CLEAR. These two tests, ports and procs are actually ON my clients hobbit server. All other ports/procs tests on their other machines report back to me fine and are not flapping Green/Clear. Hobbit Graphs

All, I have been working on setting up graphs in Hobbit for router cpu utilization. I am retrieving the data from a MS SQL Server database and then sending it along to hobbit directly to the TCP port. The messages are in the following format: inerrors:39 outerrors:61 mbps:4.125 percentutil:47.214 For certain devices, it will create a graph while others it doesn't work. I have three devices, and only one works. However, the data is sent exactly the same way for all three. Also, I can't figure out how to create the graph so that it displays the current, max, min and avg numbers on the bottom and draws a line for the current value. One other question: While sending the alerts to Hobbit, where is the time stamp derived from? (i.e. x-axis). Ideally, I would like to supply this in the actual message because the data I am receiving could be minutes or hours old and shouldn't use the current time. It might contain the cpu utilization for the last three hours for every hour. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thoughts on hobbit-client

Hello there. I have not seen any source or RPM's for the hobbit-client on the offical hobbit page and sourceforge page. But I am using a package called that (i first tried it in a test enviroment and it works well), so I am guessing that isnt a offical package? But I think the docs are a little be unclear, is there a client package, or are you supposed to use the "hobbit" package on clients as well? Benedikt Kristinsson
