Evening all, Looking for some help with a strange garphing issue where graphs do not display on any of the default test (CPU,disk,bbgen), however under the trends column the default graphs do display but none of the custome ones. Have 2 separate hobbit servers where everything is woking fine on one and not the other, have diffed all the config files and there are no differences, have checked all the directory permissions all ok. When i look at the source of the webpage that is generated the only bit that is missing from the problem sever is the table definition for the graph: <table summary="bbgen Graph"><tr><td><A ..... No odd errors in the logs, have restarted hobbitd and that didn't fix it either Short of rebuilding the problem server i do not know what else to check Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated Thanks Jon Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

Solaris Zones: Monitoring via SNMP

Does anyone have any experience monitoring Sun Solaris servers and zones ? I do not have access to the global zone, only the isolated zone. So the ext script on the shire isn't an option. Can each hosted Zone stats be polled via SNMP from the global Zone ? Thank you for any info, suggestions, you can offer, ~Steve

Hi, I try to setup a hobbit server on a Solaris 8 box. Hi, I need a help for JBOSS app server monitoring by hobbit ..how to do that and is there any plugin written for JBoss monitoring..... Bcoz my company wants hobbit to monitor jboss in depth for example number of threads,JVM details,throughput n all stuff of java.......... I know it says it has the same value as MAXMSG_STATUS but I also set MAXMSG_STACHG="2048" and then stop the hobbit server, check the shared memory segments have been released by hobbit (ipcs -a) and the restart the hobbit server. The man hobbitserver.cfg says that the values in the above MAXMSG_* is in kB. Where what is mentioned in log is in bytes and not kB. So maybe they are to big, your values.. Skinned Hobbit (eww) discussion

With all the discussion about icons, I figured I would open another can-of-worms (so to speak). I don't know if this has been discussed before (I could not find anything in my searches). As part of getting buyoff from managers we changed the look of hobbit to be a little less "dark". We only make one change to the code (to make highlighting of the line work), all other changes were to the web/www files. Major Changes: - Moved menu down to make room for 'company banner' - changed colors (background/font/etc) - Removed background (we were annoyed by the "blink" everytime the screen refreshed) - Added status "line" between company banner & menu, also below the footer. - Added highlight function: highlights line that mouse is over - changed icons - changed footer I wanted to see what others thought of our effort. Also, I wanted to see if others think it would be worth the time to make hobbit 'skins' (never really cared for that term). I am willing to help in any effort. See attached. (sanitized version). bb-hosts dependency behavior

I have a bunch of hosts dependent on our router as you can see by the configuration below. When ever the router conn test alerts, the others do as well. Hi guys. Got another thing I can't seem to sort out. I'm getting the following in the hobbitclient.log: 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Whoops ! bb failed to send message - timeout 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Bad data in channel, skipping it 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Got over-size message, truncating at 528383 bytes (max: 524288) 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Dropping (more) garbled data 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Dropping (more) garbled data 2008-08-18 14:18:32 Failed to get a message, terminating This I think is related to the amount of data in the process list, being more than 512k(?) which is the default. I have changed hobbitserver.cfg with the following entries: MAXMSG_STATUS="1048576" MAXMSG_CLIENT="1048576" MAXMSG_DATA="1048576" MAXMSG_NOTES="1048576" and I can't find other references in the man file to increase message and data size. I'm running hobbit 4.2.0 server on centos 5, and the same version client on 8 servers running AIX5.3. The other servers are fine, and the only difference is the amount of data in the process list. Am I missing something?
