I can't even imagine 2 to 4 weeks without reading, computers, or driving. It's a relatively simple operation - I'll be out of the hospital the same day - but I cannot use my eyes normally for a few weeks after the operation. Meaning that I am not allowed to read, work with a computer, or drive a car for 2-4 weeks. So I'll be completely off-line during that period. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Now to the grand renaming debate. The last time I mentioned that I had another candidate, but I was waiting to see if the domain names were going to expire. Alas, they did not. The name I had in mind was "Sysdar", being short for "Systems Radar" - but phonetically also rather neat, since it brings in memories of "Big Sister" and hence "Big Brother". It didn't quite work out. That doesn't mean I'll scratch that idea completely - it's still a good name, and there are no trademark registrations or anything else indicating that the name is used at all, so we could just work it out with a different domain name (e.g. sysdar.eu or sysdar.dk). My favourite right now is G-lance. I've noted that HP has the "GlancePlus" software, but I hope that won't be a problem due to the explicit dash and therefore the very different pronounciation. "hobbitmon" and "hobbeat" are outsiders. I'd have to get an OK for those from the Tolkien lawyers, and I am a bit sceptical about them accepting either. Also, I think they are OK names for people who know what Hobbit is about - but they have no meaning what so ever to new users (or PHB's). Nothing's going to change (obviously) for the next few weeks, so feel free to voice opinions and/or come up with good ideas until then. Hobbit patch for highlighting of lines (used in blue theme)

Here is my suggested patch for 4.2.0 of hobbit to allow for highlighting of lines when mouse-over. This is a fairly simple change to 1 file (pagegen.c). CPU polling cycle

My understanding is that the hobbit client returns a 5 minute CPU average to the hobbit server... Is this correct? Does it send it every 5 minutes or every minute (i.e. a rolling average)? Is there a way to change the interval (hobbitlaunch.cfg perhaps?) so that the clients report 1 minute CPU averages?

RRD graphing scales

Hey, I'm completing a performance analysis of several servers. In doing this I'm seeing inconsistency in the scales in the various charts displayed in Hobbit when viewed for different time periods. For example one of my web servers had a performance spike, this spiked was picked up in the 24 hour graph, but not the 12 hour. Is there anything that can be done to remedy these scales?

Hi, I have (don't ask why) 2 hobbit servers. Each hobbit servers reports all information to the other. So BBDISP=0.0.0.0 and BBDISPLAYS = "<hobbit A> <hobbit B>" But some clients are only listed in the bb-hosts of 1 of the 2 hobbit servers. The client only reports to the hobbit server where they are listed in the bb-hosts file. I can see the incoming messages and I see the files under the data directory. But no status is displayed on the html pages. After comparing the 2 servers, I found that the first entry in BBDISPLAYS is used by the html generator to check if the client exists in the bb-hosts files. If the client is not found, no status is displayed on the html pages. So, in my case, I had to make sure that the first entry in BBDISPLAYS is the local hobbit server. And of course, this wasn't and it took my 3 days to figure out why the status was not displayed on my hobbit server. It's only the page generator that has this problem. The network tests are done, clients can send information, all files in the data directory are created. Stef

Hobbit *ON* Tomcat...

.NOT monitoring Tomcat. Searched the archive and could find no relevant information. I am at a client site and they wish to run Hobbit *ON* Apache Tomcat. I have been trying all day. Every time we think one issue may be fixed there is another right behind it. Has anyone done this (Hobbit running on Tomcat)? What did it require you to do? Thanks. /tg

Instead of sourceforge, how about something like Trac? http://trac.edgewall.org/ I think it has everything your looking for in a tracker, not to mention it can integrate with subversion. Help with Log Monitor

I need some help configuring the log monitor, primarily with syntax. Is this correct: LOG /opt/myapplication/system.log %Incompatible types|WSVR0605W|OutOfMemoryError|Assertion|AppointmentDate from the VO(String) is not matching with the Date from the Slot SEq ID COLOR=RED I'm guessing not. How do I put log lines that developers are specifically looking for. In this case they want to alert on: "AppointmentDate from the VO(String) is not matching with the Date from the Slot SEq ID" Thanks for the help.....James
